Afghanistan, Saudi agree to strengthen trade ties

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Afghanistaninfo-icon and Saudi Arabia are to sign a memorandum of understanding in the near future on strengthening trade relations, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) said on Thursday.

The agreement came during a meeting between Finance Minister Eklil Hakimi and Saudi Arabia’s Commerce Minister Majid Bin Al Qasabi in Riyadh, a MoF statement said.

The two sides discussed Afghanistan’s exports including saffron, dried fruits and carpets, Saudi investment and the first meeting of the joint economic commission.

The Afghan agricultureinfo-icon also came under discussion at the meeting that agreed on creating a joint team to work for enhancing trade relations under an MoU between the two countries.

The Saudi commerce minister also announced he would visit Afghanistan this year.
