National integration stressed at Martyrs Week commemoration gathering

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): A gathering attended by thousands people in capital Kabul on Saturday marking the Martyrs Week stressed over national integration, respect for martyrs of the country and Mujahideeninfo-icon.

The Martyrs Week started today (Saturday) in the country to pay rich tributes to the martyrs of the country who scarified themselves for the independent and prosperity of the motherland. Sixteen years back on the same day former commander of Jamiat-i-Islamiinfo-icon was killed in a suicide blast.

In today’s gathering held in the Loya Jirgainfo-icon hall common people, government leaders, lawmakers, Jihadi leaders and cabinet members participated.

Ahmad Wali Massoud, head of the Massoud Foundation said national adherence was the message of this year commemoration of the Martyrs Week because ethnic differences in the country was at its peak and national reconciliation and unity was the need of the hour.

He asked the people of Afghanistaninfo-icon to work for national integration during the martyrs’ week and give a strong message to the enemy of Afghanistan to refrain from dividing the people of Afghanistan.

“Divisions and disintegration take us to nowhere, it is better to have national dialogue,” said Ahmad Wali Massoud.

President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in his message said the Martyrs Week recalled exemplary sacrifices the people of Afghanistan and their dreams.

He said: “commemorating the Martyrs Week meant renewing the resolves to their dreams which embodied the unity and development of Afghanistan. The Martyrs of Afghanistan from every ethnic group belong to the entire Afghanistan. They wanted their country to be independent, prosperous and respected. They wanted the violence to halt and see the people of Afghanistan to live a comfortable live. They scarified themselves to let the future generation to live  honorable live.”

The president stressed over national unity and said: “Fueling differences in current circumstances was against the dreams of martyrs.” He added the national unity government was committed to the national unity and dreams of martyrs.

“Afghanistan is currently at war against terrorism and those elements that were responsible for the martyrdom of Ahmad Shah Masoud and they continued promoting extremism and had been the sources of crimes and instability in the region,” he said.

Jihadi Leader Abdul Rab Rasoul Sayyaf termed Ahmad Shah Massoud the real hero of the country. He said Mujahid had preference over common people, an order from Quraninfo-icon, and those going against it were infidels.

He said it was easier for the people of Afghanistan to live under the identity of being Afghan and Muslim and set aside identities based on ethnicity and language.

Former President Hamid Karzai said: “We should try not to let Afghanistan to become centre of power politics for other countries. He asked neighbouring countries and the US not to compete in Afghanistan for their interest but to make Afghanistan centre of cooperation and friendly exchanges.

Mohammad Karim Khalili, chairman of the High Peace Councilinfo-icon (HPC), said Ahmad Shan Massoud and others rendered sacrifices for the independence of the country. He said the people of Afghanistan were not divided but efforts were made to create differences among them.

He asked the government to adopt policies which could open way for peace in the country and encouraged militants for honorable reconciliation.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah said Massoud was respected and honorable politician who never called his opposition with disgracing words.

He said the next generation could inherit from the work achievements of Ahmad Shah Massoud and it could become reason for the solvation of Afghanistan as well.

The CEO also asked the people of Afghanistan get united to turned the dreams of the country’s martyrs reality.

He added national inspiration and ownership of Afghanistan could help Afghanistan get out of crisis.

The CEO said election was ahead and it would help further strengthened the country.

The CEO without going into details said the Afghanistan Solvation Allaince was dangerous for the country and was conspiracy hitched by elements inside and outside the country.

Second Vice President Gen. Abdul Rahid Dostum, Atta Mohammad Noor, Salahuddin Rabani, Mohammad Mohaqiq and other leaders are part of the Afghanistan Solvation Alliance.
