Abdullah promises measures against Daesh in Pachiragam

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah on Tuesday said fundamental measures would be taken against Daesh militants in Pachiragam district of eastern Nangarhar province.

Abdullah, who met with a number of tribal elders from Tora Borainfo-icon area of the district at his office, listened to problems shared with him by the elders who said 4,000 people had been displaced from the volatile area; however, no aid reached them.

A statement from the CEO office quoted the elders as saying that most of their villages were currently under Daesh or so-called Islamic State (IS)’s writ, urging the government to conduct a clearing operation in Pachiragam district for eradicating the oufit.

They also demanded a large number of police in their area, adding they were ready to support and stand by the security forces and jointly crush Daesh.

Abdullah expressed his grief over atrocities the IS meted out to the people of Pachiragam, promising he would discuss the issue with the National Security Council and soon an operation would be carried out against Daesh. He said the government was fully ready to suppress insurgents, especially Daesh.

Abdullah said the government was taking fundamental measures for driving Daesh away and facilitating safe return of the displaced families to their original places.

Abdullah tasked a delegation at the head of the Cabinet’s secretariat chief, Baryalai Arsalayi, to pay a visit to Nangarhar and provide needed aid to displaced people after assessing their situation.
