Police, uprising group members surrender to Taliban

MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Six members of a local uprising group and four policemen have joined Talibaninfo-icon’s ranks in Qaisar and Pashtoonkot districts of northwestern Faryab province, officials said on Monday.

Qaisar district chief Rahmatullah Qaisari said four police personnel surrendered to Taliban with their weapons in Bora Ghan area on Sunday evening. He said three of them were brothers.

Elsewhere, six members of a local uprising group, led by commander Mohibullah, joined the militants in the Zaghan area of Pashtoonkot district, said Mohammad Naeem, a militia commander. They also surrendered eight weapons to the insurgents.

District chief Abdul Rahim Uzbek Oghli confirmed the development. Naeem said two days ago, Zghan area came under Taliban control. Mohib allegedly invited militant Commander Mullahinfo-icon Yaqoot to his home.
