Sep 26, 2017 - 18:45

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): At least 20 Daesh and Talibaninfo-icon militants have been killed in airstrikes and clashes in eastern Nangarhar and Laghman provinces, officials said on Tuesday.

Nangarhar police spokesman Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal told Pajhwok Afghan News eight Daesh fighters were killed during a drone strike in Spina Zhai area of Nazyan district on Monday night.

He said some weapons and ammunition belonging to the group were also destroyed in the strike.

Separately, Nangarhar police arrested a suspected Daesh affiliate, named Qari Fazlullah, in Haska Mena district on Monday.

In neighboring Laghman province, at least 12 Taliban insurgents were killed during clashes with security forces.

Laghman governor’s spokesman, Sarhadi Zwak, told Pajhwok security forces jointly launched an operation clashing twice with Taliban militants during the past 24 hours.

He said 12 insurgents were killed and nine others wounded in the clashes. The injured included Taliban’s shadow district chief for Dawlat Shah district, Mualvi Habib Rahman.

He said during the operation security forces also recovered four body armors, a landmine-making factory, and some other stuff used in making bombs.

There has been so far no word from insurgents in this regard.
