3 security personnel among 13 killed in Parwan, Farah unrest

CHARIKARinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Ten Talibaninfo-icon insurgents and two policemen have been killed in a clash in central Parwan province, while an intelligence official shot dead by unidentified men in western Farah province, officials said on Saturday.

Col. Alozai Ahmadi, Parwan police coordination center’s commander, told Pajhwok Afghan News that a clash erupted between Taliban and security forces two days ago in Fandaqestan valley of Seyahgird district ended this morning.

He said eight militants, two Afghan Local Police (ALP) were killed and two militants, three policemen and two civilian wounded during the clash.

Ahmadi said four security check-posts were fallen into the hands of Taliban for about eight hours but were recaptured later by Afghan forces.

More than 500 families fled the conflict to safe areas but efforts were underway to pave the ground for their return, he added. Ghulam Mohammad a resident of the area confirmed three civilians were wounded during the clash.

Elsewhere, Dr. Nabi, an official of National Directorate of Security (NDSinfo-icon) was gunned down by unknown motorcyclists in Farah province on Friday evening.

 Nasir Mehri, Farah governor’s spokesman confirmed the incident and said a manhunt was underway about the attack.
