Teachers in frontline of war on ignorance: CEO
KABUL (Pajhwok): Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah has said Afghanistan
is lagging behind in the caravan of development, but compensating the time lost depends on efforts of teachers.
Talking at an event marking Teacher Day in Rabia Balkhi High School in Kabul on Saturday, Abdullah said: “Our teachers perform a very difficult job in the face of current critical security and economic situation of the country.”
“The war in Afghanistan is between ignorance and knowledge and between light and darkness,” he said, adding some groups wanted to turn off the light of education and knowledge on the Afghans.
Abdullah congratulated all teachers and their families on the Teacher Day and said Afghanistan lagged behind in terms of development, but teachers with their efforts could compensate the time lost to the conflict.
“Your work is effective in reconstruction, stability, awareness and development of Afghanistan,” the CEO told teachers.
He said teaching methods had changed around the word and Afghan teachers also needed to adopt modern teaching techniques.
“The government would pave the ground for teacher’s capacity building,” the CEO said, adding teaching methods and trainings being adopted should fulfill the requirements of the Afghan society.
He assured teachers that the leaders of the national unity government were decisive in keeping their commitments about the education sector.
“The government is trying to resolve teachers’ problems regarding salaries, land plots and townships.”
