Nov 27, 2017 - 13:26

GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen have torched at least two shrines in the Maqor district of southern Ghazni province, an official said on Monday.

Mohammad Arif Noori, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place in the district late on Sunday night.

Without blaming any group, he said no one had been arrested so far in connection with the torching of the shrines of Mullahinfo-icon Wali Neeka and Bahaul Haq.

Naqubullah, a resident of the area, confirmed the incident. He urged relevant officials to protect historical site, including shrines.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility. Shrines have been burnt in various areas of the country in the past as well.
